School Cultures that Care, Engage and Inspire
It is important for educational leaders to prepare for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in our diverse cultures. We must ensure that all children have a fair, equal and significant opportunity to reach their highest potential in our schools.
How can we develop and nurture a more innovative, cohesive, purposeful and powerful culture of learning? School cultures that care, engage and inspire practice:
• Autonomy – Each person is a unique and ultimately self-determining human being who deserves to be treated with courtesy and respect
• Beneficence – We must be kind to others and always try to promote the dignity and wellbeing of those around us
• No Malfeasance – Avoid doing harm to others
• Fairness/Justice – Treat people equally regardless of their race, religion, ethnicity, gender, disability or sexual orientation
• Fidelity – Follow through with promises and commitments
• Veracity – We should tell the truth and not attempt to deceive others
